If you’re not getting the performance you expect from your router, the first thing to check is whether your router is based on old technology. If files take forever to download, streaming videos don’t display smoothly, and you have trouble connecting to WiFi in some areas of your home, then there’s a good chance an old router is the culprit.

DUO Broadband was happy to host Green River Ministries Shelter Feed Me Friday on September 3, 2021. DUO Broadband’s Sherry Selby helped plate and give out nearly 100 box lunches of BBQ and spaghetti and bottled waters to people in the Campbellsville community.
Green River Ministries Shelter Executive Director Ayla Hargis has been organizing Feed Me Fridays for about two years. The effort relies on community sponsors who cover the cost of the food, and volunteers to prepare, plate and serve, feeding nearly 100 people each week. We’re happy to be a part of the community service efforts by Green River Ministries.
Deep dive on WiFi – What is it exactly?
You may hear many people use the terms “WiFi” and “Internet” interchangeably, but they are not the same thing. An Internet connection can be wired or wireless. An ethernet cable is the most reliable and secure connection. With a wireless connection, or WiFi, data is sent over radio frequencies instead of a cable.
Welcome to your Dashboard
Creating and controlling the ultimate WiFi Experience happens from right here. Everything begins with the My Network section. You can quickly check the status of your connection to the Internet.
My Network
The My Network button allows you to manage your WiFi and guest networks. You can view equipment like routers and mesh satellites, enable and disable services and view bandwidth usage by connected device.

Callie Montgomery, a 2021 graduate of Russell County High School, is this year’s recipient of the Lindsey Wilson DUO Broadband Scholarship. She is attending Lindsey Wilson this fall and plans to major in Education.
The $3,000 tuition scholarship is given annually to a first-time, full-time Lindsey Wilson freshman from DUO Broadband’s service area, which includes parts of Adair, Cumberland and Russell counties.
“DUO Broadband is proud to continue this partnership with Lindsey Wilson College and understands how important it is to support our local youth’s pursuit of higher education,” says Eric West, Duo County Telecom’s Director of Marketing. DUO Broadband has supported the Lindsey Wilson scholarship program for more than twenty years.
Managed WiFi refers to the ability to analyze and optimize your wireless Internet network and the devices connected to it. And while this may sound difficult or complicated, DUO Broadband’s managed WiFi solutions provide an easy interface for users.
Why would you need to manage your WiFi?
Today more people than ever choose streaming video services over cable, satellite, or broadcast TV. According to Nielsen, streaming audiences have now surpassed the broadcast TV audience nationwide.
Streaming is very simple with the availability of smart TVs, and affordable devices like the Amazon Streaming Stick, Roku, and AppleTV. These devices give you access to thousands of apps, many of which are free. And you can subscribe to as many or few streaming services as you like without contracts.
When your bandwidth is divided among multiple users and devices your network can become bogged down depending on what types of online activities are being performed. (To learn more about bandwidth read this helpful article.) Thankfully, today’s advanced routers make it easier than ever to monitor and control your WiFi network, so you can have the speed you need when you need it.
Smart home (or IoT) devices are becoming more popular and easier to use than ever before. If you’re using any of these devices in your home, or are thinking about adding one or more to your home, you should give some thought to how you’re connecting these devices to your WiFi network.
Virtual Assistants (VAs) are artificial intelligent software agents that perform services or tasks based on voice commands. VAs can work through computers, smartphones, car dashboards, or stand-alone devices like Amazon’s Echo.
How often do you have guests at your home ask for your WiFi password? Many of us think nothing of giving the password to our friends and family, or our kids’ friends. But you may not realize that you’re putting your own network security at risk. How? Guests could unknowingly download malware or connect to your network with already-infected devices, which could then infect everything else within the network. But that’s not the only reason to use a guest network.
